Schools in Sundance

‘’Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school’’ – Albert Einstein

Parents play a vital role in educating their kids on how to eat, how to speak, how to dress, how to walk, how to ride a bicycle and how to build relationships and much more but schools or institutions like these taught your kids discipline, ethics, and attitude. They sharpen your kid’s personality to compete with the world and make this world a better place to live. And along with these things they get academic education.

Schooling helps the seed to grow into a tree. So, that’s why Sundance community has built 7 schools of different categories for each age group. This community cares about its people and their children. Let me give you an overview on these schools.

  1. Sundance School

It was logically named after the community’s name Sundance. Sundance Elementary is committed to the development of each child’s potential, to the building of each child’s positive self-concept and to nurturing a desire for life-long learning in each child. Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students, and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth.

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education

He was an extraordinary man who believed that we should strive to be "The Best That We Can Be". His dedication to teaching students the importance of always doing your best is the philosophy that is still alive and well in the school that was named in his honour. Father James Whelihan School opened in September of 1986 in the community of Sundance in Calgary, Alberta. The students, teachers, staff, and parents at Father Whelihan School affirm that we have mutual rights and responsibilities towards each other.
